Home / HORNIMAN CIRCLE GARDEN PYAU
The underground well beneath Horniman Circle Garden, excavated in 1811, became the foundation for a public water drinking Pyau established in 1842, thanks to the generous funding of Seth Gangadas Vijbhukhandas Shroff. Since its inception, the Pyau has been lovingly cared for by the Bhatt water bearers and their descendants, who continue this tradition to this day.
In 2016–17, the Kala Ghoda Association, in partnership with the Urban Design Research Institute, undertook the restoration of this historic Pyau, ensuring its legacy endures for future generations.
